Perhaps thanks to Avenues' aggressive marketing to affluent Manhattan and Brooklyn parents, various New York City private schools have just posted their applications and essay questions, several weeks earlier than in previous years.
Various sources have suggested to me that established private schools are "shaking in their boots" because of Avenues' early decision policy and heavy recruiting. If this is true, I think these schools can relax. When I ask them, most of my clients say they prefer a school with a track record. They want to wait a few years to see if Avenues is as good as Whittle says it will be.
